THE OPPORTUNITY

  • Salary: $70,973 - $76,352 per annum pro rata + 11% super + annual leave loading (dependant on qualifications and experience).
  • Time Fraction: Full Time, 1.0 EFT.
  • Location: Chadstone, Bourke, Moorabbin & Glen Waverley campus
  • WWCC: Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining and maintaining an ‘employee’ Working with Children Check.
  • Police Check: Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining a Police Check
  • Position Status: Ongoing contract of employment, with a 6-month qualifying period.

Join our team at Holmesglen Institute as a Koorie Liaison Officer for our Koorie Unit!

We're seeking a passionate individual to establish and nurture positive relationships between the Institute and First Nations students, local communities, service providers, and industry partners. You'll be instrumental in developing and implementing programs that foster First Nations engagement in alignment with our Learner Engagement and Partnership Strategic Plan.

Your role will involve researching, developing, and implementing activities in line with the Marrung Education Plan and Wurreker Strategy, ensuring effective monitoring, evaluation, and reporting. As a leader within our Koorie Unit, you'll drive initiatives to enhance First Nations learners' participation in mainstream courses, contributing significantly to our cultural priorities and overall improvements.

ABOUT YOU

  • Degree qualifications in education support or community services required; relevant work experience may substitute lesser qualifications.
  • Demonstrated connection to the Koorie community and broad knowledge of working with Indigenous communities.
  • Understanding of case management processes and ethical professional practices in First Nations student support services.
  • Familiarity with relevant First Nations community organisations, welfare agencies, and mental health services.
  • Knowledge of National Privacy Laws, equal opportunity legislation, and government social policy impacting the First Nations cohort.
  • Self-motivated, with demonstrated organisational skills and the ability to work cooperatively within a team or to work without supervision.
