Bring your skills and expertise in data management to support Martu with their cultural and social aspirations.
Kanyirninpa Jukurrpa (KJ) has an exciting opportunity available for a Cultural Data Officer. This newly created position will be responsible for day-to-day coordination and management of the organisation’s cultural data, records and collections, as well as supporting archival and data management processes across program areas. The Cultural Data Officer will also play an important role in contributing to a critical project addressing KJ’s long-term data management strategy to ensure the continued preservation and strength of Martu culture.
KJ is focused on three complementary objectives:
To do so, KJ delivers a suite of social, cultural, environmental, and economic programs. KJ has a strong reputation for engaging and supporting the Indigenous Martu people in successfully delivering these programs and is the biggest employer of Martu in the region.
The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic and details focussed individual, with initiative and expertise in data, archival systems or collections management within the cultural heritage, information sciences, or other related disciplinary area. This involves having responsibility for the processing and management of existing and incoming data collected through the organisations broad suite of program works.
It is essential that you are passionate, committed, determined, and innovative. Working in a cross-cultural context requires you to be adaptive and consultative, and it demands the ability to listen to, understand and respect Martu views and attitudes.
Experience with a not-for-profit organisation is desirable but not essential, as is experience working with Indigenous Australians, their culture and languages.
The position is based in Newman, WA but KJ is open to the option of a fly-in-fly-out candidate.
