The National Education Advisor will nationally oversee, guide and support the education related aspects of Be You, inclusive of its development, delivery and performance ensuring relevance and sustainability in education contexts.

What is headspace Be You?

headspace, in collaboration with Beyond Blue, deliver "Be You" the national mental health in education initiative. Be You supports educators from early learning services and schools to develop a positive, inclusive and resilient learning community where every child, young person, educator and family can achieve their best possible mental health.

The initiative has a multidisciplinary team (Clinicians, educators and other professionals) who support school communities nationally.

Tell me about the role

  • As the National Advisor you'll be responsible for the implementation of Be You Nationally.
  • You will also provide education sector advice and support within the Be You team both within the program and headspace Be You.
  • Melbourne is our preferred location, although we are open to receiving applications from candidates across Australia.

Key deliverables of this role will be:

  • To contribute to strategic planning, development and continuous improvement of headspace's delivery of the Be You.
  • Provide education sector advice and support within the headspace Be You team and the broader headspace Schools Division
  • Lead headspace's contribution to development and review of high-quality professional learning content for educators, in collaboration with Beyond Blue and Early Childhood Australia.
  • Lead engagement and strategy initiatives with national education stakeholders and peak bodies.
  • In collaboration with headspace Be You leadership team and delivery partners, lead and guide all aspects of research and evaluation of headspace Be You principles and practices.
  • Collect and analyse data to inform practice, manage risks and contribute to writing and editing publication documents.
  • Prepare relevant reporting to headspace Executive/Board and Beyond Blue.

Who we're looking for

headspace is seeking an Educational Advisor who brings:

  • Significant experience working with the Education sector with relevant qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience leading and delivering projects relating to mental health and wellbeing
  • An understanding of the broad mental health service system nationally.
  • Proven ability to contribute to high level strategic planning for school-based initiatives that supports the learning and mental health and wellbeing of children and young people.
  • Experience in research, evaluation and professional learning including interpretation and prevention of findings.
  • Highly developed writing and editing skills, including writing for different audiences
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
  • An ability to operate effectively at a national level and build relationships and strategic partnerships with stakeholders including key government, non-government and community partners.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and policy issues relevant to education systems in Australia.
