Tell me about the role

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Human Resources (HR) generalist to join a fast paced and exciting organisation supporting and representing young Australians. Reporting to the HR Manager and working collaboratively with the wider People & Culture team, this role will act as the focal point for all people-related matters for their assigned portfolio areas across all HR strategic, advisory and operational services.

Having established trusted and influential relationships with managers and employees at all levels.

A typical week as HR Business Partner at headspace could include:

  • Workforce planning, designing position descriptions and planning a recruitment strategy with a manager who has just been granted funding for a new program that needs to get off the ground quickly
  • Participating in an interview panel for a key role in the organisation, providing your expert guidance in relation to their organisational culture fit and leadership capability, to secure the best possible candidate
  • Supporting and guiding a manager in undertaking a performance management process with a member of their team
  • Leading the onboarding process for a new staff member including credentialing, contracting and explaining employee terms and conditions
  • Attending a workshop where the team are designing HR processes as we roll-out a new HRIS
  • Supporting an employee who is experiencing conflict with another member of their team, providing them with strategies to resolve the issue and suggesting other resolution options
  • Reviewing and redeveloping a HR policy and procedure to bring it in line with new legislative requirements, as well as incorporating contemporary HR best practice and the headspace tone of voice

What we’re looking for

headspace is seeking a tertiary qualified HR professional who has a minimum of eight (8) years generalist HR experience as well as:

  • Demonstrated experience in managing employee relations and performance management issues
  • Strong understanding of Enterprise Agreements, employment law and contemporary HR practices
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, juggle multiple tasks and be adaptive to change
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy
  • Strong negotiating and influencing skills, with the ability to have difficult conversations confidently
  • A reputation as a trusted HR advisor, problem solver and strategic business partner
  • Strong alignment with the values of the organisation under The headspace Way

This role is being offered until 30 June 2021, in line with our current funding term.
