This community based organisation operates across the Northern Territory and are responsible for the delivery of a broad range of services including Aged Care, Mental Health Disability and Childcare service to their communities.

They are currently seeking a Care Manager to be based in Alice Springs on a permanent full-time basis.

Your new role

Reporting into the Residential Aged Care Manager and as part of the leadership team in Alice Springs you will be responsible for overseeing education programs, supporting and managing staff as well as monitoring and evaluating clinical outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Support operational efficiencies through stock management, including equipment and medical and other stores Monitor staff ratio vs occupancy including acuity of residents
  • Daily walk around -assess care needs of residents and changes to health status, and any emerging operational requirements
  • Monitor and support new staff through the on-boarding process providing feedback and mentorship accordingly
  • Support to manage staff performance and their practices, assisting to drive and inspire a positive workplace culture that builds resilience, commitment and professionalism
  • Maintain an appropriate code of conduct acting as a positive role model at all times supporting the vision and resident centric philosophy of the company
  • Ensure staff are supported to complete mandatory training (annually) and as required
  • Facilitate the conduct routine 'toolbox talk' meetings with all groups of staff as required for management of day to day matters as they arise
  • Monitor and support new staff through the on-boarding process providing feedback and mentorship
  • Monitor the work environment daily through observation and reporting. Monitor living environment reporting potential and actual risks/hazards
  • Identify and report potential/actual risks/hazards and manage accordingly
  • Support the safe Return to Work (RTW) of injured workers with suitable modified duties and monitor accordingly
  • Identify training needs of staff through daily observation and specialised care needs of residents

What you'll need to succeed

As the successful candidate you will have:

  • Tertiary qualified (min. Diploma level) in Nursing or similar highly advantageous
  • Strong previous experience in a leadership position overseeing Clinical Care
  • Knowledge and ability to interpret the Aged Care Quality Standards and regulatory legislation
  • Strong interpersonal written and verbal communication skills and ability to coach frontline staff
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and business improvement
  • Police check and drivers’ licence.
