Housing for the Aged Action Group is a member-based, community organisation specialising in the housing needs of older people. Coming from grass-roots beginnings 40 years ago, HAAG today has over 1000 members that actively campaign for housing justice.
We are seeking two team players to join our care finder team, to provide support and assistance to older people who may be “falling through the gaps” in the system. Many older people with special needs (as defined in the Aged Care Act) will access care finders if they are vulnerable, marginalised, or disadvantaged, this includes language or cultural differences, being homeless or at risk of homelessness, and needing specialist support because of life history or identity, such as the Forgotten Australian or people who identify as LGBTIQ+.
You will be assisting older people to access and understand the aged care system and link them with services that they may require, including housing.
You will be using HAAG’s established community engagement strategies to proactively identify and engage with people and build and maintain networks in the local community to support engagement with potential clients.
HAAG is committed to recruiting a diverse range of people with a diverse range of skills and experience to help us achieve our goals. We encourage applications from those with a lived experience of homelessness or housing stress, culturally and linguistically diverse, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals.
Housing for the Aged Action Group provides generous above award salary and conditions.
