Greater Western Aboriginal Health Service (GWAHS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation committed to empowering Aboriginal people to take control of their health and wellbeing through culturally safe, high-quality clinical and community services.

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse and/or Midwife to join our Mudjin Muru team. This rewarding role provides sustained home visiting support to Aboriginal women and their families from pregnancy until their child reaches two years of age, working alongside Cultural Support Workers to deliver holistic, family-centred care.

About the Role

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will:

  • Deliver culturally safe nursing and/or midwifery care through a sustained home visiting model.
  • Build strong therapeutic relationships with women, children and families.
  • Partner with Cultural Support Workers to provide holistic, strengths-based support.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with internal and external service providers.
  • Promote maternal, child and family wellbeing through education, advocacy and early intervention.
  • Participate in reflective practice, professional development and continuous quality improvement activities.

Essential Criteria:

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Midwife with AHPRA.
  • A minimum of three years' postgraduate experience in midwifery or maternal, child and family health.
  • Experience developing positive relationships with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, families and communities.
  • An understanding of the benefits of sustained home visiting and family-centred care.
  • Strong communication, organisational and documentation skills.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • A current NSW Driver Licence and Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain required checks).

Desirable qualifications include Child and Family Health Nursing, along with experience in Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services.
