Gumala Aboriginal Corporation (GAC) works to alleviate poverty and promote self-determination for the Banjima, Yinhawangka and Nyiyaparli people of the Pilbara region in Western Australia.

We’re looking for a self-driven and creative individual, who is able to deliver relevant and engaging content across social media and other channels. The PR & Communications Officer will work collaboratively with the PR & Communications Manager and other senior leaders to deliver relevant and reliable information that enhances the reputation of the Corporation and improves communication with key stakeholders.

In this varied role, your duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Creating content for a variety of digital and other channels.
  • Assisting with the design and production of the Annual Report and other publications.
  • Designing graphics and visual concepts to communicate ideas across all channels.
  • Managing information campaigns targeted to our Members and stakeholders.
  • Updating and maintaining the stakeholder contact list.
  • Daily media monitoring for news relating to or impacting Gumala, Pilbara communities and Aboriginal Corporations and stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A track record of delivering strategic content through storytelling.
  • Knowledge and experience in communication and digital delivery skills.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships across all levels of the organisation.
  • Effective organisational, planning and time management skills
  • A high degree of initiative and a flexible approach to deal with competing demands, ambiguity and change.
  • Demonstrated experience in researching, refining and developing content for print and social media.
  • Proficiency in using Adobe Creative Cloud apps, such as InDesign and Premiere Pro.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated research skills.
  • Tertiary qualified in Public Relations, Communications and/or Journalism, or relevant industry experience.
  • Previous experience working with remote Indigenous communities will be highly regarded
