Our mission is to assist our clients to live independently, to integrate where possible with prevention and early detection service providers, and to facilitate opportunities for our clients to better connect with each other, our organisation, and with their communities.

To achieve our mission the Client Services Team are transitioning to a new model of service delivery tailored to regional needs through the creation of four regional ‘hubs’ that will be responsible for coordinating responsive and high quality services throughout each region, and are supported by offices and a virtual network.

Your role:

This an exciting time to join our Client Services Team in these newly created positions located in two of the newly created regional hubs.

You will create pathways for clients to engage in meaningful activities that are co-designed with the blind and low vision community and peer led. You will identify and build partnerships with community organisations, facilitate connections with regional services and interest groups, and deliver peer support programs for clients of all ages who are blind or have low vision.

You will be guided by the Customer Service Manager and you will collaborate with our Area Managers to raise our profile and services with community stakeholders. You will advocate on behalf of clients aligned with communication and advocacy strategies.

You will play a key role to support us to transition to providing integrated services in a community based setting. Your role requires some travel.

About you:

You will bring a range of skills and experience to this role:

  • A depth of experience in the Disability or Community Services Sectors
  • A skillset of supporting clients with low vision or blindness, or perhaps you have a lived experience of vision impairment and are able to relate to service needs. An understanding of social isolation is essential
  • Experience in establishing and managing community partnerships and relationships and demonstrated experience of developing programs. Practised in engaging with clients and understanding their needs. You are comfortable with co-designing solutions for clients
  • Adept in connecting clients to community services and organisations that assist clients who have vision impairment. Solid experience of advocating on a client’s behalf to access services
  • You have built professional relationships easily, and are a confident and effective communicator and influencer
  • You easily ask questions and collate information to assist with developing solutions
  • You manage your time effectively and prioritise, and work autonomously and independently
  • Your personal qualities are patience, empathy and the desire to implement improvements
  • Not essential, though useful, is a formal qualification in one of these streams: Social Work/Social Science, Community Services or Allied Health
  • Events management experience is desirable

You will be covered by the Guide Dogs NSW/ACT Enterprise Agreement 2019, and this position is Client Services Stream, level 4. We have PBI status and offer salary sacrificing (including a Meal Entertainment Card) through the Advantage program.
