ABOUT YOUR ORGANISATION

Good Samaritan Inn (GSI) provides crisis and short-term accommodation, and specialist supports to women ( i.e. trans and cisgender women), non-binary, and gender diverse people, including children and young people who have experienced family violence and homelessness. GSI delivers person-centred, feminist and trauma-informed services and programs that address immediate needs.

GSI also provides outreach support to victim-survivors living in the community, ensuring safety, connection, and engagement with local and specialist services. Through an innovative coaching and employment program, GSI builds skills and capacity, empowering individuals to achieve economic independence and rebuild their sense of self and future.

GSI is in the process of expanding their specialist family violence services to include a longer-term accommodation response to assist women, children and young people to re-establish themselves in the community following the family violence crisis phase. The focus of this new accommodation and service model is to provide a healing and recovery response for victim survivors with a range of complex needs.

About the Role

The Case Manager role is to deliver high quality intensive case management services to women, young people and children who access the Good Samaritan Inn’s services.

The role supports guests who have experienced family violence and homelessness and are residing in crisis and transitional housing facilities, by delivering structured services utilising, a strength-based outcomes focus and the Multi Agency Risk Assessment and Management Framework (MARAM). The role provides client-centred casework, using individual, mother and child and whole of family approaches to attain safety, stability and positive long-term outcomes.

This position may be required to be performed in a solo capacity with on-call support as required or within a team of other Case Managers, Support Workers and senior staff. Work will be undertaken in a variety of environments including a crisis accommodation facility, outreach to transitional properties or community service settings.

The role will apply an inclusive approach which acknowledges and responds to the diverse and unique characteristics and needs of all women and children.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Provide crisis and ongoing professional response services to women, young people and children who are experiencing family violence and homelessness in line with the Code of Practice for Specialist Family Violence Services utilising the MARAM framework, Information Sharing Schemes and through a child safety lens.
  • Using the Family Violence Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management Framework (MARAM), provide high quality risk assessment and safety planning in partnership with women, non-binary people, and children.
  • Provide person centred, strengths-based and trauma informed, goal directed case planning, advocacy, referrals and thorough exit planning with women, young people, and children.
  • Assist victim survivors to determine their options, identify relevant service pathways and advocate for required support for themselves and their children.
  • Liaise, communicate, and act in an advocacy role with a range of agencies on behalf of women and children in a manner that optimises their access to support services and attains positive short- and long-term outcomes.

To be successful in this position you will need:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in social work or equivalent in line with the minimum qualifications for specialist family violence practitioners or currently working towards it. (RCFV recommendation 209)
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in the provision of Case Management, specifically with women from a migrant, refugee and culturally diverse backgrounds experiencing family violence and homelessness.
  • A demonstrated understanding of the issues involved in working with women from a multicultural background, including intersectional factors impacting women and children affected by family violence.
  • Understanding of feminist theory and contemporary family violence practice including the gendered nature of violence, social justice principles, crisis intervention and working with trauma.
  • Demonstrated understanding of legislation and policies relevant to working with victim survivors of family violence.

  • A current Victorian driver’s license
  • Successful appointment to the position will be subject to a National Police Check (and international if applicable)
  • Eligible to work in Australia

Salary

The remuneration for the position is at the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services (SCHADS) Award, Level 5, plus superannuation. Salary packaging is available to increase your take-home pay.
