The Opportunity:

If you are an enthusiastic dog lover then you could be the right person for the part-time role (18-24 hours per week) of Kennel Attendant - Shift Leader at Greyhound Rescue, an ethical rescue charity located an hour south of Sydney’s CBD. The opportunity is rewarding, dynamic and diverse, suiting a professional with passion and dedication to help greyhounds. The role offers an exciting chance to work with greyhounds to be part of an amazing team.

You will be directly responsible for:

  • Oversight and management of the kennel volunteers and day-to-day kennel functions
  • Completion of intake processes for incoming dogs
  • Oversight of medical status of the dogs

Your background and experience:

You must have the ability to lead a team with different levels of experience and to work well under pressure in our busy Rehoming Centre. A passion and commitment to delivering excellent standards of care, rehabilitation, and rehoming is essential, as is an ethical approach to animal rescue and the use of positive reinforcement techniques.

Skills and qualifications required include:

  • Qualifications in canine behaviour/assessments/training/rehabilitation or equivalent experience
  • Qualifications in animal care such as Cert 3 in Companion Animal Services or equivalent experience
  • Ability to work both independently and cooperatively within the team
  • Excellent people skills and the ability to lead
  • Excellent communication skills, basic computer literacy
  • Current driver’s license (manual driver advantageous)
  • Experience and confidence working with large-breed dogs
  • Experience with animal first-aid and basic medical care
  • Ability to lift 20kg
  • Willingness to work weekends and flexibility to fit within a changing roster of shifts
