ABOUT THE GREENS NSW

In NSW we have seven Members of Parliament, two Senators in the Federal Parliament, and seventy local government Councillors.

ABOUT THis ROLE

The Field Organiser will support lower house campaign teams to recruit and train teams of volunteers for the purpose of phone banking, door knocking, letterboxing, and other volunteer activities for the 2027 State Election.

This role is a Fixed term contract starting 4 days per week with the opportunity to go full time from January 2027. The contract will end on 26 March 2027, 2 weeks after the State Election.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Recruit and engage volunteers in lower house campaigns as directed by the Campaign Manager.
  • Develop a schedule of field activities for local campaign teams in collaboration with the State Office and local campaign teams.
  • Train volunteers to engage them in persuasive conversations with persuadable voters.
  • Develop and coordinate training materials for local volunteer teams.
  • Oversee the recording and management of the data collected from field activities.
  • Organise and run training sessions for campaign coordinators, campaigners and Greens volunteers in using our online systems.
  • Providing input into the State Campaign team meetings.
  • Other duties as directed.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

The Field Organiser must meet the following essential requirements:

  1. A commitment to The Greens and to advancing Greens policies and principles
  2. Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  3. Excellent organisational skills in managing competing priorities and deadlines.
  4. Demonstrated emotional intelligence, problem solving skills and resilience.
  5. Experience developing and presenting training one-to-one as well as larger groups.
  6. A good understanding of the importance of data management in campaigning.
  7. Experience in optimising large-scale organisational systems for non-technical users.
  8. Experience with contact relationship management systems (CRMS).
  9. Experience working or volunteering to support an election, social justice, environment, and/or community campaign.
  10. An understanding of the Greens and support for the party’s principles, policies, and decision-making processes.
  11. Advanced skills in MS Office, social media platforms.
  12. A Working with Children Check or a commitment to obtain one before starting.
  13. A valid Australian Driver’ License.

Note: Evening and weekend work and travel within NSW will be required.

Successful candidates must not be a member of another political party.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

Operations Manager: Direct line manager

Lead Organiser: Operations and workplan supervisor; provide reports, escalate issues, keep informed and advise.

Work team: Work collaboratively and inclusively by participating in meetings to share information, innovation, and best practice.

Internal stakeholders: Work with Local Groups, campaign committees and volunteers to resolve issues and provide solutions to problems.
