The role of the Content & Communications Editor is to write and develop content that engages Gowrie audiences. In this role, you will work across a passionate and diverse organisation to find and communicate strong stories. You will also support early childhood specialists to write and edit articles or reports to share quality early childhood education & care and to support Gowrie’s external positioning. The role is part time, working 19 hours per week.

The key responsibilities are:

  • Storytelling – to work with educators across Gowrie’s early childhood services to gather engaging stories and package copy, images and footage for a range of external and internal communications
  • Editorial – to write and edit editorial pieces that illustrate quality early childhood education & care pedagogy and practice and supports Gowrie’s external positioning
  • Content – to develop content for social media, blogs, eDMs, print and other promotions that supports Gowrie’s brand positioning and drives customer engagement
  • Reporting – to support managers and educational leaders to evidence good quality in early childhood education & care and illustrate outcomes and impact of our programs
  • Customer Engagement – to monitor customer insights and data and feed into future planning and activity to optimise engagement
  • Projects – to support teams across Gowrie with family communications, coordinate other comms projects such as annual reports, handbooks, photoshoots and filming

Skills and Experience

In addition to strong computer literacy and attention to detail, you will bring:

  • Strong writing and copy-editing skills, ability to adapt style and write for different audiences and different platforms – from social media posts to blogs to editorial
  • Strong storytelling ability, experience of gathering stories and case studies and translating them into compelling content for external audiences
  • Experience of briefing and approving graphic design and photography
  • Experience of gathering and editing content by smartphone and basic use of graphic design packages is essential. Additional skills in photography, filming/editing or graphic design would be an advantage but not essential
  • Understanding of effective digital communications and experience of developing content for social media, websites and eDMs
  • A proactive mindset, collaborative approach, and ability to develop and maintain positive cross-organisational working relationships
  • Understanding of the Gowrie brand, ability to clearly articulate the look & feel and ability to develop content that supports the brand
  • Understanding of early childhood would be an advantage but not essential
