Board Members x2 (Voluntary)

Gowrie Victoria

Are you ready to contribute your skills and experience to the future of early childhood education?

For over 85 years, Gowrie Victoria has been at the forefront of high-quality early learning. We’re a not-for-profit organisation with a reputation for inspiring others and shining a light on best practice.

You can read about our history, purpose and vision by visiting our website.

We are seeking two new Board members to provide exceptional governance and strategic leadership to the organisation. Early education is currently going through an exciting time of significant sector reform. We are in the process of developing our new strategic plan to include taking up new opportunities arising from the reforms, demonstrating excellence and driving innovation. Our skills-based, volunteer Board will guide the organisation during this time of change, working closely with our highly effective CEO and Executive team.

We are looking to strengthen the diversity of skills, knowledge and experience on our Board, seeking applications from candidates with experience and skills in:

  • Finance and business; or
  • Education and/or social services; or
  • Government sector.

Previous board experience would be considered favourably but is not essential.

We aim for our Board to reflect the rich diversity of the Victorian community. Applications are welcome from people of all ages, genders, LGBTIQA+ people, Aboriginal people, people with disability, and Victorians from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, including from the communities we serve. Professional development and mentoring are available for those new to Board roles.

We’re looking for clear and confident communicators, with the capacity to commit to regular Board meetings (approximately 8 per year, both onsite and online) and have adequate time for preparation. Membership of sub committees is also a requirement (additional 3-6 meetings per year).
