Gordon Legal’s commitment to social justice is at the forefront of everything we do. We are seeking an experienced and passionate senior lawyer to join our Industrial Relations and Employment Law team.

You will be based at our Australian Nursing & Midwifery Federation (ANMF) Elizabeth Street office. This role is full-time and offers a hybrid working arrangement.

About the Role

As a senior lawyer of a team based at the ANMF, you will play a key role in representing nurses, midwives, and carers in complex industrial and employment matters, particularly professional discipline, regulatory investigations, misconduct, dismissal and underpayment matters. You will manage a diverse portfolio of ANMF member matters and provide strategic legal advice while delivering exceptional client service.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent ANMF members in relation to professional discipline matters and regulatory investigations (e.g. AHPRA matters), misconduct allegations, dismissals, underpayment claims and other employment matters.
• Provide comprehensive legal advice and manage complex cases.
• Appear/instruct in conciliations, mediations, and court/tribunal hearings.
• Draft legal documents, briefs, and correspondence.
• Build strong relationships with health professionals, trade unions, and community organisations.

Skills & Experience

• Minimum 5+ years PAE in Industrial Relations and Employment Law or related fields.
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and case law.
• Experience in professional discipline and regulation is highly regarded.
• Excellent drafting, advocacy, and negotiation skills.
• Strong interpersonal and organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
