Since 2018, we have successfully acquired and protected 37 at-risk rainforest properties and supported the restoration of over 100 hectares of degraded rainforest habitat. The Role

This is a unique opportunity to support the planning, coordination, implementation and delivery of conservation projects that make a tangible impact on the environment and local communities. The Projects & Partnerships Officer will oversee the implementation of conservation projects and strategic partnerships that support Gondwana Rainforest Trust’s mission.

You will manage end-to-end project delivery, from concept development and stakeholder engagement through to funding, reporting, and impact evaluation. You will play a pivotal role in coordinating project partners and developing collaborative relationships with Traditional Owners, landholders, conservation organisations, donors, and government agencies. The role requires strong project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to translate strategic goals into measurable outcomes.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Project Development & Delivery

  • Manage the planning, coordination, and implementation of conservation and restoration projects.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, deliverables, and risk assessments.
  • Oversee monitoring, evaluation, and reporting to demonstrate measurable outcomes.
  • Work with field teams, contractors, and partners to ensure timely, high-quality delivery.
  • Prepare project proposals, concept notes, and business cases for new initiatives.

Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Support and manage partnerships with Traditional Owner organisations, government, NGOs, and private sector partners.
  • Identify and secure new partnership opportunities aligned with GRT’s strategy.
  • Coordinate collaborative projects under the Stronger Together framework to support Indigenous self-determination and Caring for Country outcomes.
  • Represent GRT at stakeholder meetings, conferences, and community events.
  • Develop partnership agreements, MOUs, and a collaboration framework.
