Delivering courses - Course in EAL, Certificate I in EAL (Access) and Certificate II in EAL (Access), an EAL coordinator will be expected to be aware of funding body Skills First compliance requirements.

Key accountabilities of the position include:

Coordination:

  1. Assisting the manager with marketing initiatives to recruit learners
  2. Undertaking learner enrolment and monitoring course participation
  3. Ensuring that enrolled learners meet funding eligibility and other relevant criteria
  4. Mentoring and supporting relevant staff by arranging professional development with particular emphasis on strategies to meet diverse learner needs and adult learning principles
  5. Facilitating moderation and validation
  6. Participating actively in Centre meetings.

Undertake teaching related duties:

  1. Undertake administrative tasks associated with the course to AQTF standard. This includes:
    1. A signed class roll and
    2. Ensuring enrolment details are collected and enrolment form is complete
  2. Establish a course file for each course. This must contain the following:
    1. Week by week course plan overview
    2. Record of course delivery and review (session by session)
    3. One copy of each assessment task:
    4. Maintain individual student files which contain the following documents
      1. Individual student outcomes cover sheet
      2. 2 responses for each assessment task
      3. End of course report for student to be completed each semester
      4. Complete student achievement summary each term
    5. Establish and maintain student files which must include individual pre course assessment and any additional documentation required in the course
    6. Report course outcomes accurately ensuring the paper trail supports each reported outcome
    7. Participate in informal and formal pre accredited / accredited moderation sessions
    8. Organise follow up of students who have not been attending regularly. Normally follow up should be conducted if a person has been absent for 2 consecutive sessions
    9. Document pathways as agreed each year (student’s learning plan)
    10. Participate in any professional development session internally or externally to stay up to date
    11. Create assessment tasks for EAL internal test bank
    12. Distribute training plans as appropriate
