HR Manager - Bunbury

Gnaala Karla Booja Aboriginal Corporation

We are looking for an experienced HR Manager to lead our people and culture function — someone who brings solid operational HR expertise, a genuine commitment to cultural safety, and the skill to support managers and staff through the full employment lifecycle.

This is a hands-on leadership role with real breadth: from recruitment and onboarding through to employee relations, performance, wellbeing, compliance, and workforce planning. You'll work closely with the Executive Leadership Team and provide practical, timely advice that helps GKBAC be a strong, fair, and culturally grounded employer.

We Offer

  • Salary range up to $127,941.75 per annum depending on skills and experience, plus superannuation.
  • Salary packaging (up to $15,899 per year plus meal and entertainment benefits of $2,650 per year).
  • 10 days Noongar Cultural Leave per year.
  • 5 days Compassionate Leave per occasion.
  • 5 weeks annual leave per year plus 17.5% leave loading.
  • Christmas shutdown period credited as additional leave.
  • Long Service Leave vested after 7 years of service.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Essential

  • Relevant qualifications in human resources, business, workplace relations, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in an operational HR, people and culture, or employee relations role.
  • Working knowledge of Australian employment law, awards, recruitment, onboarding, performance processes, and workplace investigations.
  • Ability to give clear, practical, and confidential advice to leaders and staff.
  • Experience working respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, Traditional Owners, and community stakeholders — with a strong understanding of cultural safety and self-determination.
  • Experience working in an Aboriginal Corporation.
  • Strong communication, judgement, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and the ability to manage sensitive matters calmly and fairly.

Desirable

  • Experience using Employment Hero or a similar people management system.
  • Experience coordinating HR systems, onboarding, employee records, or HR processes in a similar environment.
