The Head of Programs – Youth and Community is a key leadership role which works closely with the local community, key stakeholders and the GYS team, to provide engaging and effective support for the youth in our precinct, strengthening family, social and cultural connections.
The role reports to the CEO and will be responsible for delivering the following:
- Design and manage the operationalisation of programs and services that are aligned to GYS’s strategy and funding.
- Team development and management.
- Undertake research and manage all program evaluations, ensuring program relevance and effectiveness.
- Contribute to organisational development and ensure the overall safe operation and function of GYS.
The Head of Programs – Youth and Community is a full-time role, with hours to be worked as required.
Selection Criteria
- Relevant knowledge and experience in designing and developing youth or community development programs, including experience in participatory and strengths-based theory, methods, practice and evaluation.
- Extensive experience delivering complex projects end to end in a community setting, demonstrating well-developed organisational, time management and administrative skills with the ability to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines whilst juggling completing demands.
- Demonstrated team leadership and management skills and the ability to motivate staff and volunteers.
- Experience in culturally diverse community settings, demonstrating strong cultural awareness to enable the development of relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and community members of other cultural backgrounds; and a demonstrable ability to attain the trust and confidence of young people, their families and community.
- Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with all people to ensure effective relationships.
- Demonstrated experience in maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality while engaging in person-centred work.
- Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in a relevant field. Postgraduate qualifications desired.
- Current Australian Driver’s Licence desired.
All GYS employees require current National Police and Working with Children Checks and COVID-19 Vaccination as a condition of employment.
Salary details: Social, Home Care, Disability and Community Services (SCHADS) Award: Grade: 6.1 + salary packaging
