About Us

Gadalargan Ltd is the administrative body that provides support to members of the Gogolanyngor Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (GAC).

Gadalargan’s key role is to implement the Economic Development Fund and the Indigenous Housing Fund to assure the social and economic prosperity of the Jabirr Jabirr/Ngumbarl people of the Dampier Peninsula, West Kimberley. These funds have strict distribution rules, as prescribed by the State Government in line with the Browse Agreement of 2011.

This position looks to provide the PBC and its membership, the administrative entity and the Corporate Trustee with the support required for strong governance while helping members through the processes required to access financial support through the funds it administers.

The Location

The position is based in Broome Western Australia.

The Role

The role has three (3) focus areas:

1. Leadership – As GAC members are scattered throughout the country, there is a real need to ensure that Directors, contractors and members work as a team (albeit remotely where necessary) and have a clear sense of the values and culture of the traditional owner group. This takes strong leadership skills.

2. Planning & Administration– As income is derived from State funded programmes, the General Manager will need to have strong administrative, financial and written skills for fund implementation, acquittals and reporting.

3. Compliance – Procedures, process, policies and best practice will be fundamental to long term sustainability. Therefore, strong organisational skills are required in the position.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a General Manager with experience at an executive level with proven leadership qualities. The general manager is primarily responsible for:

  • The overall and general management of Gadalargan Ltd
  • The Implementation of the Economic Development and Indigenous Housing Funds in line with the Rules prescribed by the State:; and
  • Management of the day-to-day operations of the organisation, its Corporate Trustee, its people, and its resources.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Sound knowledge of Aboriginal culture with relevant experience in a leadership role
  2. Evidence of community engagement experience
  3. Evidence of meeting funding obligations
  4. Strong oral and written skills
  5. Evidence of sound financial management oversight experience
  6. Experience in dealing with stakeholders which includes, representatives of government departments, business and community partners
  7. Ability to think strategically in often opposing environments and set priorities
  8. Proven record of an ability to implement policy and strategy set by a board.
