About the Opportunity

GEO group now has a challenging and exciting opportunity for a Deputy Senior - Transition and Reintegration to join the team at Ravenhall Correctional Centre, Melbourne, on a full-time basis.

Reporting to the Senior Transition and Reintegration, you will primarily be responsible for providing support to the Senior in leading and managing the Transition and Reintegration Services Team.

Your main focus is supporting the Transition and Reintegration team in the delivery of reintegration services to support prisoners to successfully transition into the community. You will provide expertise, mentoring and coaching to reintegration staff and will be specifically responsible for the supervision and coordination of the work of the Reintegration Team, including the completion of forensic risk assessments. You will maintain a case-load of complex clients presenting with high reintegration needs.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Assisting with the delivery of Ravenhall's Transition and Reintegration Services including assessments, provision of practical transition and reintegration support and assistance with parole applications;
  • Supporting the Senior Transition and Reintegration in supervising and mentoring Specialist Assessors and Reintegration Officers to ensure that they appropriately contribute to the case management planning for prisoners prior to release;
  • Providing leadership and expert advice to GEO staff, Alliance Partners and Stakeholders on issues related to transition, resettlement and reintegration;
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement and professional development of their staff by providing regular observation, mentoring and feedback on assessments and outcomes; and
  • Effectively, efficiently and accurately managing data entry into Gateway and other identified information management systems.

About You

You will hold a tertiary degree in Social Work, Welfare, Psychology, Criminology, Human Services or otherwise present with relevant expertise relevant to the delivery of reintegration services within a correctional environment. You will have the drive and passion to help prisoners become better and more contributing members of society upon their release.

You must have the willingness to work within a correctional setting that involves direct contact with prisoners, alongside a genuine interest in making a difference to your community.

Your highly developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills will be vital to your success, as will your ability to build positive, non-judgmental professional relationships with prisoners and a wide range of community agencies.

The ideal candidate will be qualified in Social Work with significant experience in the transition and reintegration needs of prisoners.

Please note: Before commencement, you will be required to hold a full, unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence, complete a National Criminal History Check and obtain a security clearance. Occasionally you may be asked to complete work outside ordinary business hours or undertake interstate business travel.
