We are looking for an experienced practitioner to take up the position of Lead Occupational Therapist (OT) within the Forensic Mental Health Service at Ravenhall Correctional Centre. This position provides leadership and operational support to the Occupational Therapists working at Ravenhall Correctional Centre, and also works closely with the Chief Occupational Therapist to oversee the ongoing development and strategic planning of occupational therapy services across Forensicare.
In addition to working within a clinical service and maintaining an agreed upon clinical caseload, the Lead OT provides expert advice and consultation on complex clinical and occupational therapy matters within the prison-based services and to other agencies and key stakeholders.
You have extensive clinical knowledge and experience in Occupational Therapy, with a sound understanding of the theories of occupational performance and a commitment to improving patient functioning through assessment and treatment using occupational models of intervention. You have demonstrated skills in the mental health and/or forensic field, knowledge and understanding of the needs of mentally ill people and of the issues of care delivery in forensic mental health.
You have the capacity to lead process improvement and contribute to service development and strategic planning.
Forensicare is the statutory agency responsible for the provision of adult forensic mental health services across Victoria. Completed in 2017, the new medium-security men's prison is located in Ravenhall in Melbourne's west, providing world-class forensic mental health services in Victoria in a purpose-built state of the art facility developed to international best practice standards.
