Remote / Work from Home
At FORE Good, a non-partisan youth-led not-for-profit, we don't just talk about policy, we build tools to help shape it. Too often, expert-led, evidence-based solutions don't reach decision-makers at the right time or in the right format, stalling progress and missing critical moments for reform.
We collaborate with experts, advocates, and policymakers to build and maintain tools that Australia's policy community can trust and turn to time and time again. Working across sectors and party lines, we create resources, like our Policy Library of One-Page Briefs and training programs, that make evidence-based ideas easier to express, find, weigh, and act on.
Join us to be at the FOREfront of change and help us deliver meaningful policy outcomes. Learn more about the Culture of the Organisation.
FORE Good is looking for Copy Editors to make sure our one-page policy briefs are polished, clear, and impossible to ignore. We're recruiting for our Semester 2 period (starting 10 August until 30 October 2026) with opportunities to extend.
Our one-page policy briefs are read directly by Members of Parliament, their staff, and senior decision-makers, making this a truly pivotal role in FORE Good's impact. As a Copy Editor, you'll ensure every brief that leaves our desk is consistent and trustworthy. Even the smallest slip can undermine confidence, so your eye for detail helps us uphold the standard MPs expect when weighing solutions that could shape real legislation and public policy.
The work is flexible: we're looking for people who can contribute a minimum of a half day (9am–1pm or 1pm–5pm) a week, with more welcome. When a new brief is ready, it's circulated to the copyediting team and whoever is available steps in to review it. You'll be guided by FORE Good's in-house style guide and supported by a collaborative team.
We welcome applicants with copyediting or publishing experience, but above all we're looking for people who love grammar, understand the importance of precision, and take pride in making complex ideas read clearly and professionally.
Please note: while we are excited to train people in our style guide and the specifics of policy writing, we are not in a position to provide training on grammar and language fundamentals. Applicants should already have a sharp eye for grammatical accuracy.
The role can be done 100% online, but can also be done in person at our shared office space in Melbourne CBD or Sydney (St Leonards).
