About the role

The Medical Administration Officer is the first point of contact for our patients who come to First Peoples’ Health and Wellbeing. This role is responsible for creating a welcoming and inviting environment and to ensure our patients feel as comfortable as possible. This role is responsible for managing confidential information, maintaining medical records, databases, and file management. This role is a patient focused role that requires the ability to multi-task and work at a fast pace. Some training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a welcoming, culturally safe and professional first point of contact for patients and visitors.
  • Manage appointments, including bookings, cancellations, reminders and follow-up of missed appointments.
  • Support clinicians with client administration, correspondence and Medicare billing.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records and data.
  • Keep the clinic clean, organised and running smoothly, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Work closely with clinicians and the wider team to support quality client care.
  • Assist with staff induction, quality improvement, accreditation, audits and ongoing learning.

About you

You will be a friendly, respectful person with strong organisational skills, ability to multi-task and prioritise. You will be passionate about working in the Aboriginal primary health care sector and commit to professional development and further education. We require skilled and professional workers who can demonstrate building strong relationships and trust with the people they work with.

Ideally you would already have experience in:

  • Customer service 
  • Administrational duties
  • Record management
  • Medicare billing
  • Microsoft software platforms
  • Communication skills
  • Emotional intelligence
