We are looking for a values-driven, compassionate, and empathetic Support Worker to join our unbeatable team at our Casa Mia supported home at Narraweena on the Northern Beaches of Sydney .

ABOUT THE ROLE

Time is filled with visits out to the city, sailing, the beautiful Northern Beaches, maybe to the zoo, airport or even a movie day at home! The list could go on and on - the places the Casa Mia housemates have explored or seen! All in all, you could say we have actors, artists, sport fanatics, cooks, sailors, entrepreneurs! It's a busy house, but a house full of life, full of friends, and full of family!"

“We are four busy men who have a broad mix of interests including sport, music, cooking, acting, art and general socialising. We also happen to have some special needs. Our home is filled with warmth and love and has been set up especially for us and our needs. You will be part of a team of dedicated workers providing support for us within our home and out in the community. Home and community-based activities are centred on our needs and interests.

We are looking for Support Workers who are values-driven, compassionate, reliable, and committed to providing the highest level of quality care and support. This is a key role, working to enable and empower our housemates to live independently.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Delivering personalised support in the home and out in the community based on the needs and interest of the housemates
  • Assisting housemates to create healthy meals, with personal care and administering medications
  • Support housemates to engage and participate in the community and assist with medical appointments
  • Enter case notes into the Client Management System

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Experience in support for complex cerebral palsy, epilepsy, stoma care, intellectual disabilities and behavioural management. This is helpful but not essential - we will train you
  • An interest in pursuing a career long term with Fighting Chance
  • A passion for providing responsive, person-centred, and considerate care
  • A friendly, values driven professional with a positive and empathetic approach to providing the highest level of support
  • Be energetic, ambitious, and seeking to learn and grow in the role
  • Flexible and adaptive communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Casual, on-call availability to work various morning between 6am to 10am, afternoon 3pm to 10.30pm, sleepover, active overnights 10.30pm to 6am and weekend shifts
  • Possess or be willing to obtain a NDIS Worker Screening Check and a Working with Children Check
  • Current First Aid & CPR (HLTAID003) Certificates (or willingness to obtain)
  • Fully Covid Vaccination including Booster
  • Full NSW Driver's Licence
  • Rights to work in Australia
