POSITION OBJECTIVES 

  • Plan, implement and evaluate appropriate educational program for children in care.
  • Provide high quality early childhood education and care in a centre based environment.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS 

  1. Provide excellent service to all families.
  2. Work in accordance with the legislative requirements under the Education and Care Services National Regulations and National Law 2011.
  3. Plan, implement and evaluate programs based upon written records, and the observations of individual children in accordance with centre policy and the Early Years Learning Framework guidelines.
  4. Provide a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment for children and their families.
  5. Maintain appropriate and confidential records of children’s development.
  6. Supervise, support and guide co-workers and students when necessary.
  7. Use positive guidance techniques in all interactions with children and other educators. Actively promote the centre’s behaviour guidance philosophy through appropriate role modeling and providing on the job training and feedback to early childhood educator level 2 and 3.
  8. Perform a range of physical tasks to support the health, safety and well being of children in care.
  9. Communicate effectively with parents offering support and guidance and encourage their participation in the program. Maintain open, effective communication with all service users.
  10. Participate as an active member of the Child Care Team at staff meetings.
  11. Ensure the policies of the centre is promoted and practiced.
  12. Actively participate in and maintain a commitment to the National Quality Framework 
  13. Promote and practice The Australian Early Childhood Association Code of Ethics.
  14. Ensure that the environment meets or surpasses all statutory requirements and adheres to centre policies and practices.
  15. Take all reasonable steps to provide a safe working environment in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004.
  16. As a holder of a supervisor certificate you may be nominated as the nominated supervisor of the service and be responsible person present at the education and care service premises in the absence of an approved provider or the nominated supervisor.

ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT

Program educators work collaboratively with families to provide resources to assist parents with their role of parenting. The service supplements and supports the family as a whole as the needs of the family and the child are inextricably linked. 

Programs respect the diverse abilities and the social and cultural backgrounds of all children, recognise and accept the individual differences of each child and reflect a clear statement of the program philosophy.

Opportunities are provided to meet the needs, capabilities, interests and individuality of each child to assist children to be successful learners.
