The purpose of the Policy and Project Officer is to support The Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia (FECCA)’s policy and advocacy agenda. This role will work with other policy staff to identify and develop FECCA’s policies and projects on a range of issues that relate to multiculturalism in Australia and are priorities for multicultural communities.
This role will be involved in developing solutions and providing high level policy advice, including through submissions to both government and non-government inquiries and policy reviews. The position will contribute to FECCA’s engagement with its member organisations, Policy Committees, and relevant external stakeholders. The Officer will also lead various projects that enhance FECCA’s policy and organisational goals.
This role sits in FECCA’s Policy Team and reports to the Director of Policy and Advocacy. The successful candidate will join a small but mighty team of people who love working together and prioritise supporting each other to achieve our professional and personal goals.
FECCA is the national peak body for multiculturalism. At the heart of FECCA’s work is promoting and advancing multiculturalism, embodied in equitable policies and non-discriminatory practices for all Australians, regardless of their cultural, linguistic, ethnic, racial or religious backgrounds. FECCA strives to ensure that the needs and aspirations of various cohorts of Australia’s multicultural population are heard by policy and decision makers, as well as the broader public.

This role requires significant engagement with members, formal and informal partners, and working in conjunction with them to deliver policy development and advocacy, research and analysis and other strategic work on policy priorities.
FECCA is a small and flexible organisation. The successful candidate will be required to work on a range of cross-organisational projects, on an ad hoc basis, in collaboration with colleagues and external stakeholders to meet FECCA’s overall goals.
