About us

The Federation is the peak body for Victoria’s Community Legal Centres (CLCs). Our members are at the forefront of helping those facing economic, cultural or social disadvantage and whose life circumstances are severely affected by their legal problem.

For over 40 years CLCs have been the heart of a powerful movement for social change, reshaping how people access justice, creating stronger more equitable laws, and more accountable government and democracy.

As their peak body, we work with and support CLCs to fight for a fairer, more just community.

About the role

You will oversee and implement a strategic communications plan that positions the Federation and the community legal sector on the frontline of social justice and equality in Victoria.

You will be the communications specialist internally to highlight the important work of our members - an expert in framing complex issues and developing compelling messages that support change.

You will optimise the Federation’s online presence, and utilise digital communications to support and deliver our advocacy priorities.

This role is a rare opportunity to shape the story for a whole sector and to bring the stories of our 48 member CLCs and their community impact to policy makers, funders and the public in new ways.

About you

You’re a communications specialist who is passionate about making an impact. You understand how to position an organisation within its political, legal and social environment to ensure messaging is contemporary, persuasive and powerful.

You have broad experience in communications and are able to provide expert advice in engaging media, advocacy and digital communications. With a passion for social justice and making the world a better place, you will enable us through driving and delivering our communications priorities.

Rewards and Benefits

The base salary offered is $100,000 per annum (pro-rata for part-time), plus superannuation and annual leave loading. The Federation offers a generous FBT salary packaging program (up to $18,550 pa of your salary tax free).
