Project Support Officer

Fams NSW
  • Fixed term contract ending 30 June 2027.
  • Part time (3 days a week).
  • Support systemic change for children, young people, and families.

About the Role

Fams is the NSW peak body that represents the child protection NGO early intervention and prevention sector. Fams believes every child and young person should thrive in safe, strong and supportive families and communities.

If you’re someone who puts children at the heart of everything you do, loves variety and thrives on organisation, then you could be our Project Support Officer.

What You’ll Do

As our Project Support Officer, you’ll be part of our team’s backbone. Your knack for keeping things organised will help Fams run like a well-oiled machine so that we can advocate for better policies and resources for early intervention and prevention NGO services across NSW.

Your day could look like:

  • Providing high-quality admin support including calendar coordination, minutes and action tracking, procurement support, and document management.
  • Collecting and analysing data for programs and advocacy.
  • Organising and assisting with meetings, events, conferences (venue, catering, agendas, stakeholder management… you’ll make it happen!)

What You’ll Bring to The Role

  • A valid NSW Working with Children Check.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating projects or events, with strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills (both written and oral).
  • Experience setting priorities and monitoring workflow across individual and team projects.
  • Experience in analysing data and writing reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and develop collaborative working relationships.
  • Flexible, positive attitude and willingness to contribute to day-to-day tasks, big and small.
  • Computer literacy across the Microsoft suite (especially Office, SharePoint and OneDrive).

Bonus Points If You

  • Have Tertiary qualifications in social sciences or a related field.
  • Familiarity with software such as Calendly, Monday.com, Menti, SurveyMonkey, Eventbrite, and Canva.
  • Experience working in an NSW not-for-profit, community services organisation, or peak body.
  • A working understanding of the NSW early intervention and prevention child protection sector.
  • Openness to occasional intra or interstate travel in exceptional circumstances, which may involve an overnight stay.

A Few Things to Consider

  • We know that confidence gaps and systemic barriers can stop people from applying. If you’re passionate about making a difference and have skills that align, even if you don’t tick every box, we encourage you to apply.
  • We are committed to child safety at all levels of our work. All staff share responsibility for creating environments where children are safe, and their voices are heard.
  • Fams is committed to actively embracing our responsibilities to First Nations children, young people, families and communities. All team members must commit to a journey of reflection and genuine action to embed cultural safety and inclusivity for First Nations peoples in all our work.

Things to Love About Working at Fams
