Counterpoint, for over 45 years, has provided quality, independent support and community services to families, individuals, and community groups within the Waterloo-Redfern and the broader Sydney LGA area. We pride ourselves on being an open, flexible, honest, welcoming and supportive team.

BACKGROUND

The NSW government are commencing the implementation stage of their approved Redevelopment plans for the Waterloo Social Housing estate. This will be Australian history's largest and most complex social housing renewal project.

Historically, Counterpoint has collaborated with its partners to ensure the diverse voices of Waterloo are heard, and we are working with the Department of Family and Community Services, Land and Housing Corporation of the City of Sydney and Groundswell NGOs to ensure residents are supported, informed, and actively involved in the process.

The position will also support our other community development projects.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Qualifications in social sciences, Community Development or a related field that focuses on Community Development, or substantial relevant experience in a similar field.
  • Demonstrated experience in Community Development practice at a local level.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve outcomes in partnership with the community, government, and non-government agencies.
  • Demonstrated experience training, supporting, and working positively with Social Housing residents and volunteers.
  • Advanced conceptual and well-developed written, verbal, communication, and social media skills.
  • Excellent people, communication skills, collaborator and have an elevated level of computer literacy.
  • Understanding the principles of the NGO sector, social justice, and equity.
  • Experience in collaborating with people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People and an ability to work with those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge & demonstrated experience in the social housing sector.
  • Have a sound understanding of the Person-centred approach, Reflective Practice Principles and Self-Care.
