With over fifteen years’ experience, EWB has three major focus areas:
At EWB, we strongly believe that every engineer can be a change agent for a socially just and sustainable world. This belief drives EWB to lead a movement of like-minded individuals and companies working together to ensure technology is developed to make the world a better place for all.
Role Purpose
To ensure Australian universities have access to relevant, effective, and curriculum-integrated education programs that enable the development of graduates who are Technology Stewards.
Summary
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join EWB Australia’s engineering education team and shape its future direction as the organisation launches its Beyond 2020 strategy. This role will be the focal point of our engagement with 30 universities around Australia and will work across, and collaborate with, all areas of EWB Australia. Critically this role will be responsible for the delivery of a suite of leading-edge programs that are essential to achieve our theory of change.
EWB has been working with university and community partners to deliver unique, impactful student learning experiences for over a decade. Participants in EWB education programs develop an understanding of the social, cultural, global, and environmental responsibilities of professional engineers along with an appreciation of the skills required to act on this responsibility. By equipping members of the technical-engineering sector with this understanding and awareness, the programs aim to create a fundamental shift in the capacity of the engineering sector to support positive social, environmental, and economic outcomes with communities.
EWB’s curriculum-integrated education series currently includes the EWB Challenge, Tech Challenge, and Research Challenge. These programs present unique opportunities for students to explore and develop broad professional engineering skills through engaging with authentic, real-world project briefs with the potential to lead to positive community impact. Through access to these resources alongside training and stakeholder engagement opportunities, academics are empowered to shape future engineers who will be sustainability-driven and community-focused in their future professional lives.
EWB’s education programs are continually evolving to grow with and respond to the Australian engineering education sector. A strong link with universities is required to ensure EWB’s education programs continue to be relevant, accessible, and of unique value.
