EV Strengthening Communities is a medium-sized community organisation operating across Melbourne’s eastern and northern suburbs. Our vision is for a community where everyone can participate and belong.
We are seeking an experienced and proactive HR Manager to join our dedicated team in Ringwood and play a key role in supporting our managers, workforce and organisational growth.
This is an exciting opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys combining strategic thinking with hands-on HR practice in a purpose-driven organisation.
About the Role
Reporting to the CEO, you will provide expert HR leadership and support across our paid and volunteer workforce. You will be responsible for developing and improving workforce systems, supporting managers with people matters, and ensuring our HR practices remain contemporary, compliant and aligned with organisational objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee and manage the ELMO HR platform, including workforce compliance, learning and development, onboarding, performance management and reporting.
- Oversee and manage the Better Impact volunteer management platform and associated volunteer workforce processes in conjunction with our Volunteer managers.
- Lead the continuous improvement of HR systems, processes and workforce practices.
- Develop and enhance recruitment, onboarding and performance appraisal frameworks.
- Support organisational Occupational Health and Safety and workforce risk management initiatives.
- Provide specialist HR advice and support to managers on workforce planning, employee relations, performance management and complex people matters.
- Manage recruitment activities including shortlisting, reference checking and participation in interviews.
- Assist with workforce surveys, workforce engagement initiatives and internal communications.
- Contribute to workforce policy development and review.
- Produce workforce reporting and analytics to support decision-making.
- Participate in cross-functional projects, working groups and organisational improvement initiatives.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Formal qualifications in Human Resources or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience (minimum 5 years) in a senior HR role, preferably within the not-for-profit or community sector.
- Experience managing HR information systems, ideally ELMO or similar platforms.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation, workforce compliance and HR best practice.
- Experience developing and improving HR systems, policies and processes.
- Proven ability to provide practical HR advice to managers and senior leaders.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A collaborative, solutions-focused and people-centred approach.
