The National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health is seeking a talented epidemiologist/data scientist to work on projects aimed at improving prevention of cardiovascular and related chronic diseases. This position will give the successful candidate the opportunity to work on high-impact projects using large-scale data and complex analytical techniques. The position is initially for two years, with the possibility of extension.

Work on cutting-edge research using large-scale linked health datasets.
The successful applicant will be part of a team conducting innovative research using large-scale data to inform changes in policy and practice. They will work on projects related to cardiovascular disease epidemiology, prevention and modelling, and chronic diseases more broadly.
Over time, they may be tasked to work on other projects, in keeping with their skills and interests, and the needs of the research group.
In addition to their research, the successful candidate will convene a course within the Master of Public Health program and will undertake some teaching within that course.
To be successful in the position, the ideal candidate will have well-developed quantitative research skills and a solid understanding of one or more statistical research packages, such as STATA and SAS. They will need excellent writing skills and research experience in population health and/or chronic diseases. The successful applicant must be willing to take a team approach to their work and be able to demonstrate that they can work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders in university, government and non-government organisations.
