Partnerships & Development Manager - Volunteer

Environmental Film Festival Australia
  • Late March/Early April – End November (with potential to extend)
  • Approximately 12 hours a week, increasing during the Festival and other peak periods. Hours will vary to fit around your other commitments outside of the festival and key event dates
  • Volunteer role, any relevant expenses covered
  • Remote working, with regular monthly meetings in Melbourne Festival Director

About the role

As a 100% volunteer-run organisation, EFFA’s ability to identify and attract funding via partnerships, grants, sponsorships, fundraising and philanthropic giving is critical. The newly created role of Partnerships & Development Manager will play a pivotal part in identifying new income streams to support the growth of EFFA. With a new Festival Director at the helm, a new arts stream being developed, and with greater general public interest in environmental issues than ever before, this is an opportunity to create a lasting legacy for EFFA during an exciting time of change.

While we envision this being an ongoing managerial role of both developing and implementing a long term development plan, alongside writing and submitting grant applications, we do welcome applications from those who wish to undertake a more consultative role developing the plan as a standalone project.

This is a voluntary position, running from late March/early April to late November, with the possibility of extending. The average time commitment is approximately 12 hours per week, with more time required closer to the festival. Hours will vary and are generally flexible to suit around your other commitments. You will be predominantly working remotely, with regular meetings in Melbourne throughout the year. The successful applicant will gain invaluable practical experience, develop broad networks and establish industry connections.

Key responsibilities

  • Create and implement a development plan for EFFA, researching and applying for new sources of income including via sponsorship, philanthropy, grants, bequests and campaigns
  • Create and maintain a calendar of relevant grants, including trust and foundation and government grants, which are relevant to EFFA (with a focus on environmental, arts and cultural and educational grants)
  • Write and submit grant applications/acquittals with the assistance of the Festival Director
  • Identify ways to maximise fundraising opportunities at EFFA’s annual fundraising event
  • Source sponsorship leads
  • Coordinate with Impact and Marketing Teams as required

About us

The Environmental Film Festival Australia (EFFA) is an entirely volunteer-run organisation, operating in Melbourne since 2010.

EFFA is more than just a film festival – it's a catalyst for positive and sustainable change. We inform, inspire, entertain and educate audiences of all ages, sharing films from around the world. Our key mission is to showcase great cinema and art that celebrates nature, flora, fauna and wildlife, champions the people, organisations and projects protecting our environment, and illustrates the unprecedented global threats our world faces, such as climate change, food sustainability, habitat loss and pollution.

Following record attendance in 2019, with the festival hosting more than 20 screenings, alongside panel discussions, parties and special events, our next edition promises to be our biggest yet, tapping into the ever-growing interest in and concern about the world around us.

EFFA takes place in Melbourne in October, with several smaller events being planned year-round. Visit effa.org.au to find out more.

Benefits of volunteering
