Central and Eastern Sydney PHN is a Not-For-Profit Primary Health Care Organisation covering Sydney Local Health and South Eastern Sydney Local Health District regions.

Our aim is to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of primary health care services for patients particularly those at risk of poor health outcomes; and improve coordination of care.

Purpose of Role

As the Engagement Lead you are responsible for ensuring our external engagement activity across the organisation is effective and contributes to all aspects of the planning cycle from needs identification to evaluation.

The Engagement lead supports the operations of several key engagement forums including our Clinical and Community Councils, Clinical Leaders Network and Member Chairs meetings. This role also supports CESPHN representatives on hospital clinical councils providing them with information and ensuring issues they identify are addressed.

The role will also focus on strengthening our engagement activity and building relationships with community organisations, local government, consumer and allied health peak bodies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee CESPHN’s Stakeholder Engagement Strategy and contribute to development of engagement plans for specific population groups.
  • Monitor and report on stakeholder engagement across the organisation using the CRM.
  • Liaise and collaborate with community organisations, councils, local health districts and networks on community engagement activities.
  • Build relationships with allied health peak bodies to promote greater allied health engagement with the PHN.
  • Assist with the organisation of major strategic and engagement events with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the collection and analysis of information from community and stakeholder feedback to assist with future planning.
  • Provide secretariat support for bi-monthly Clinical and Community Council and Council Chair meetings, documenting decisions and taking appropriate follow up action.
  • Manage the annual EOI process for Council membership and support orientation of new Council members.
  • Assist in the evaluation of Council performance.
  • Provide secretariat support for quarterly Member Chairs meetings.
  • Coordinate quarterly Clinical Leaders Network meetings and development activities.
  • Review reports from external representatives attending hospital clinical councils and committees and synthesise key issues for the Board.
  • Conduct all activities in a manner that promotes a productive, enduring, mutually respectful relationship with stakeholders.
  • Preparation of correspondence, reports and presentations as necessary to meet reporting requirements to the Board and Department of Health.
  • Support the collection and maintenance of high quality data in compliance with policies and procedures, including the protection of confidential information and the implementation of data quality improvement plans.
  • Participate in the development of a safe and healthy workplace and comply with WHS legislation and instructions given in adhering to safe work procedures.

Selection Criteria - Essential

  • High level engagement skills including planning, communication (written and oral), presentation and facilitation knowledge.
  • Proven experience in relationship building and management among stakeholders from diverse cultures, professions, ages and needs.
  • Excellent conflict resolution and negotiation skills to be able to engage stakeholders.
  • Excellent writing and minute taking skills with ability to analyse key issues.
  • Ability to balance competing projects and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously, as well as part of a team.
  • High level of initiative and ‘can do’ attitude.
  • High level computer literacy across MS Office suite and other CRM based programs.

Selection Criteria - Desirable

  • Understanding of the primary health care system.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse communities.
