Environmental Defenders Office (EDO) is the largest environmental legal centre in the Australia-Pacific, dedicated to protecting our climate, communities and shared environment by providing access to justice, running ground-breaking litigation and leading law reform advocacy.

The opportunity

EDO is looking for a best-in-class Content Specialist to join our amazing team of dedicated communications and marketing professionals in their work projecting EDO’s impact, strengthening our brand and bringing new supporters and donors into the EDO community.

Working closely with the rest of the Marketing & Media Team you will develop a range of collateral to support our communications and marketing strategies, build and execute content plans and user journeys, and create compelling and engaging content across channels including web, social media, email and digital advertising platforms.

Candidate Profile

You are a skilled, creative communicator with experience developing compelling content across a range of audiences and digital channels.

You have experience distilling complex information into simple, high impact messaging for everyday audiences in ways that are meaningful and engaging to them.

You are comfortable using a range of digital tools to tell engaging, creative stories, build strong connections with audiences, and drive actions like sign ups and donations.

At a personal level you are passionate about environmental justice and climate change, and are committed to diversity and inclusion. You are comfortable working with diverse communities, and you are a team player, working collaboratively in a distributed team environment.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential:

  • A minimum of two years’ experience working in a communications, marketing or content creation role.
  • Experience creating compelling content and copy for a range of audiences across a range of digital channels.
  • Experience developing content for fundraising, acquisition and lead generation purposes.
  • Ability to think quickly and creatively about communicating complex narratives and facts to a range of key audiences.
  • Ability to develop and execute reactive and proactive content campaigns over a range of timeframes.
  • Ability to seek out and adapt to new digital platforms for content creation and distribution.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to understand and communicate about legal processes with accuracy.

Desirable:

  • Experience with Wordpress, Nationbuilder, Mailchimp, Marketing Cloud and/or similar platforms.
  • Skills in Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva and/or similar platforms.
  • Skills in photography and videography.
  • Good news sense and a strong interest in current affairs.
  • Previous experience working for an environmental, social justice or other values-based organisation.
