We're looking for a vibrant and well-organised person with Community Market experience who will be responsible for the management and operation of the Hurstbridge Market.

Diamond Valley Community Support, Inc. (DVCS) is a community based and managed registered charity providing a variety of services including emergency relief, information, support, and a range of volunteering and referral services to residents of Banyule City Council, Shire of Nillumbik and the wider community.  Over 2,000 people benefit our services each year.

DVCS operates from the Greensborough Plaza and is open to the public from 9:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday.  In addition, DVCS manages the Kingsbury Drive Community Market located at La Trobe University, and Opportunity Shops in Macleod and Diamond Creek.

Over 100 volunteers are active within the organisation providing a wide range of services and are supported by a small number of key part time and casual staff.

DVCS has been engaged by Nillumbik Council to manage and operate the Hurstbridge Farmers Market (HFM) for a period of 3 years commencing 1st December 2018.  The market is an important local program, which delivers a wide range of benefits – economic, environmental and social - to the Hurstbridge community. The market is currently operating as a makers and growers market under the name of Hurstbridge Market.

We are seeking a vibrant and well-organised person to fill the role of Market Coordinator, overseeing all operational aspects of the market, including set up, pack down, creating a congenial working relationship with stallholders, identifying opportunities for growth and community engagement as well as supporting the coordination of the administrative tasks of receipting fees, coordination of approvals and layouts.

The successful candidate will not only oversee all market operations but will also support the development and delivery of a strategy to engage retail traders in to the market experience, work with buskers and community groups (CFA, schools, local charities, etc..) in various fundraising and promotional aspects.

The Hurstbridge Farmers Market operates from 8.30 am to 1.00 pm on the 1st Sunday of every month (except January), with setup commencing from 6:30am.

Some physical tasks related to the key deliverables of the role may be required. Support to our Kingsbury market may also be required, and would be scheduled onto monthly rosters when needed.
