Victims of Community Crime Response Pilot

The VOCCR pilot has commenced across three key in-community locations (Cairns, Logan and Townsville) while also consisting of a virtual team that is located in Central Office (Brisbane CBD). The purpose of this service is to address the current gaps faced by victim-survivors needing timely practical support immediately after experiencing a violent crime. Our focus is to provide short-term crisis assistance such as coordinating emergency transport and accommodation, and addressing basic needs such as food, clothing, home safety upgrades and more, within the first 72 hours of the incident. In addition, we also provide referrals for long-term support which may involve legal, health, financial, and housing support.

VoCCR Team Leader Overview

The Team Leader primarily leads, develops, and supports a team of skilled practitioners, guides complex risk assessments, case recommendations, planning workflow and task management. In addition, they will manage cases and collaborate with external partners. The Team Leader also undertakes performance reviews, mentoring and coaching for all VOCCR practitioners. They are also responsible for supporting quality assurance in data collection for the pilot evaluation. Team Leaders play a key part in the program's success and are actively involved in continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Think laterally and apply professional judgement to all cases and situations.
  • Deliver technical or complex problem-solving strategies that aligns with the Organisations' clinical practice framework.
  • Demonstrate initiative and draw upon existing knowledge, skills, and experience to lead the service delivery in accordance with operational, contractual, and legislative obligations.
  • Foster and maintain a positive mentoring and coaching environment for practitioners.
  • Engage and build strong rapport with external stakeholders/brokerages.

Remuneration & Benefits:

  • Social Community Home Care Disability Award Level 6 ($52.42 p/hr, dependent on qualifications and relevant experience. Relevant shift penalties plus Super.

Position Requirements:

  • Proven clinical experience in at least one (1) of the following areas; Domestic, family and intimate partner violence, sexual violence and abuse, victims of crime, child protection and/or residential support, or Specialist trauma counselling or mental health.
  • Tertiary qualification(s) in the area of Social Work, Human Services or Psychology is essential.
  • 2+ years leadership experience overseeing a service delivery team.
  • Resilient and courageous leader that achieves impact through their commitment to continuous quality improvement.
  • Demonstrated capacity to supervise, engage, retain and support staff in a way which values diversity, is culturally competent and prioritises psychological wellbeing.
  • Significant demonstrated ability to manage complex and competing demands.
  • Exceptional and effective interpersonal, communication, and engagement/consultation skills.
  • Confident IT and administrative knowledge and skills.

Additional Requirements:

  • Availability and flexibility to work in the evening/overnight space across a 7-day roster *this position is contracted until 30/06/2024, with the possibility of extension*
  • Ability to obtain National Police Check and Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencing employment.
  • Valid driver's license or ID.
  • Right to work in Australia.
