About the Role

Join our Integrated Family Services team as a Family Practitioner supporting families across the Wyndham area. This part-time (0.8 FTE) role works with parents, carers, and children from pre-birth to 18 years who may be experiencing challenges including poverty, trauma, mental health concerns, substance use, family violence, or involvement with Child Protection.

Using a whole-of-family, developmental approach, you will provide therapeutic parenting support, case management, advocacy, and community-based engagement to strengthen protective factors and improve outcomes for children and families. Reporting to the Team Leader, you will work closely with families to build on strengths, reduce risks, and achieve sustainable change.

Duties

  • Provide therapeutic parenting support and interventions that strengthen family functioning and child wellbeing
  • Manage a caseload of families, undertaking assessment, planning, and case coordination
  • Develop family-centred action plans that prioritise children's safety, health, and wellbeing
  • Deliver parenting education, psycho-social support, and skills-based interventions
  • Complete risk assessments and work collaboratively with Child Protection and community services

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work or equivalent
  • Minimum three years' experience providing therapeutic parenting support, family support, or parenting education
  • Strong understanding of child development, family systems, and the family life cycle
  • Experience undertaking assessments, managing risk, and working with complex family needs
  • Demonstrated commitment to affirming practice with First Nations people, LGBTIQA+ communities, people with disability, people of colour, and public housing residents
  • Current driver's licence and ability to travel throughout the Wyndham region
