About the Role

Join our Complex Trauma Service team in a part-time (0.6 FTE) contract role until 30 June 2027, with the possibility of extension subject to funding. Based in Carlton with travel to correctional facilities and regional Victoria, you will support survivors of institutional child sexual abuse to navigate the NRS and Victorian Redress Scheme (VRS). Reporting to the Senior Complex Trauma Practitioner, you will work within a transdisciplinary, complex trauma-informed team delivering client-led counselling, case work, and advocacy.

Duties

  • Support people in custody with NRS and VRS applications within correctional facilities, and living in the community.
  • Deliver complex trauma-informed counselling and therapeutic case work to survivors in community and Corrections settings
  • Drive referrals and assertively engage clients across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria
  • Collaborate with a transdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, client-led advocacy and support
  • Contribute to systematic advocacy and knowledge-sharing within the Complex Trauma Service

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, or Mental Health + professional body accreditation
  • Demonstrated experience in complex trauma-informed counselling and therapeutic case work
  • Knowledge of healing and recovery approaches for survivors of institutional abuse 
  • Demonstrated commitment to affirming practice with LGBTIQA+, First Nations, and people of colour communities
  • Available Tuesday 11am–7pm; experience in criminal justice settings highly regarded
