Case Worker - Boggabilla

Drug ARM

Position Overview

The position will operate as a Case Worker, delivering time limited individual case management and community support within the Targeted Earlier Intervention Program, funded by the NSW Department of Communities and Justice.

This program supports vulnerable children, young people, families and communities to access services when required, to prevent issues they are experiencing from escalating and empower participants to lead a fulfilling life.
The objectives of the program are to improve child health and wellbeing, reduce levels of vulnerability, prevent the escalation of risk, and reduce the number of children and families at risk of contact with child protective services.

Position Responsibilities

The Case Worker will be responsible to operate within the framework and principles of harm minimisation as articulated in National Drug Strategy 2017-2026, the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ Drug Strategy (2014-19) and the Queensland Alcohol and Other Drug Treatment Service Delivery Framework 2015 (and subsequent revisions of these documents)

The case worker will;

  • Actively engage with vulnerable children, families and communities, and working with them to provide the services they need, which may involve coordinating service provision across the sector
  • Help communities to support and protect their members, through building stronger social connections and support networks
  • Recognise the importance of culture in nurturing a sense of safety for Aboriginal children and young people in their family and broader communities
  • Support parents to meet the emotional, physical and material needs of their children, through warm and nurturing interactions and encouragement
  • Assist children to have the strongest possible start to life, to reach age appropriate milestones and reach their potential
  • Assist young people to stay connected with their family and make sound life choices as they move into adulthood

The position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with a range of stakeholders including but not limited to clients, significant others, health professionals, government and non-government organisations and colleagues.
