A little about the role

DPV Health Supported Independent Living Service is a NDIS registered service providing support to people with disabilities. Residents provide great a range of individual skills and attributes that make a fun and rewarding environment.

Residents may have physical and/ or intellectual disabilities, health conditions, specific communication needs and demonstrate behaviours of concern. 

The Residential Support Worker provides a comprehensive support service that embeds our Excellent Care Values to residents in their home which extends to the community and health planning.  The position also contributes to daily operational of household tasks with the residents participating.

You will aid in achieving these outcomes by: 

  • Creating and being excited about being in an environment that empowers residents to achieve individual goals and abilities, while demonstrating our Excellent care values. 
  • Being creative and thinking outside the box to support residents with opportunities to have an exciting, meaningful and fulfilling life. 
  • Establishing and maintaining effective links and positive working relationships with the residents, families, team, and other stakeholders
  • Developing and implementing residents directed care programs to deliver on the individuals’ goals, aspirations and outcomes
  • Supporting residents in undertaking a range of activities of daily living including- medication, personal & self-care, food preparation & mealtime assistance, dressing & maintenance of personal hygiene
  • Planning, conducting and supporting residents to follow up health appointments and maintain communication of these to team members. 
  • Supporting residents with transport using DPV Health vehicles to / from home and to outings 
  • Contributing and participating in monthly Care Team Meeting and supervision sessions
  • Completing household tasks and routines that ensures a safe well-presented and clean home.

  • Are focused on delivering resident outcomes through teamwork and Excellent Care 
  • Are committed to supporting people with a disability to achieve goals and aspirations 
  • Have high level written and verbal communication skills, Ability to write clear concise resident notes and complete reports as necessary 
  • Have demonstrated skills in using PC, Microsoft products and experience with resident data base software 
  • Is flexible, committed and interested in career development and the strategic direction of DPV Health 
  • Can support resident’s safety with transport and have the ability to drive a DPV Health Bus (11-seater/regular licence). 
  • Holds relevant qualifications, however, someone with the right attitude and willingness to learn will be considered.

The fine print

  • Successful candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check, hold a valid WWCC and NDIS Worker Screening Check and be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide a valid medical exemption 
  • Full driver’s license and travel between sites is preferred
  • Current Certificate for First Aid (HLTAID003) & Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID001)
  • Certificate III or IV Disability Services or other equivalent qualifications 
  • Food Safety and Handling Certificate 
  • Manual Handling, Infection Control
  • Ability to actively support people with a disability in daily living and personal care skills
  • Must be able to work shifts that will involve mornings, evenings and weekends
