About the Role

Western Australian Senator Dorinda Cox is a Yamatji Noongar woman and the Australian Greens spokesperson for First Nations, Resources, Trade, Tourism and Northern Australia.

Senator Cox was proud to enter Federal parliament and the Senate as the first ever WA First Nations Senator. Her role as spokesperson for her portfolios and representing her constituents, requires her to undertake Senate, Committee work and to travel across Australia.

Senator Cox leads and requires a highly driven and determined team. If you bring a can do positive attitude alongside office management experience, this is an exceptional opportunity.

You will work within a team of like minded and dynamic people, who are united in their goal of fighting for positive, progressive change and the rights of everyday people, including First Nations peoples. We complete this work collaboratively and respectfully in a fast-paced political environment.

This role ensures the efficient and effective running of the electorate office and works closely with staff and volunteers. The office manager oversees and reports on the office budgets and Senator’s parliamentary entitlements, coordinates office systems and spaces, and manages the Senator’s diary and correspondence.

This role reports to the Chief of Staff.

Key work areas

  • Managing expenses, entitlements and office budgets
  • Management of diary and correspondence
  • Oversight of Work Health & Safety issues and compliance

Selection Criteria

  1. Experience and skilled in office administration, including managing budgets
  2. Experience working directly with members of the public from diverse backgrounds, including First Nation peoples.
  3. Ability to work collaboratively in a coordinated way as part of a close team under time constraints, competing priorities and other pressures.
  4. Flexible, positive and adaptable.
  5. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills across diverse audiences and mediums.
