About the Role

The Doncare Volunteer coordinator will be responsible for developing and overseeing strategies and practices regarding recruitment, assessment, placement, training and retention of volunteers. 

The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for: 

  • Coordinating Doncare’s volunteer services in accordance with the Strategic and Business plans
  • In consultation with relevant program staff, identify volunteer support required in each program and ensure actions are taken to optimise the number and diversity of volunteers are engaged in each program
  • Actively recruit new volunteers and match them with the appropriate program
  • Recruitment, selection and placement of volunteers in accordance with Doncare’s policy and procedures, in consultation with relevant program leadership
  • Develop and implement sustainable processes and procedures to recruit and retain volunteers
  • Ensuring all volunteers have a clear understanding of their role
  • Provide volunteers with regular training, assessment and guidance necessary to ensure they carry out their role safely and in accordance with policy, procedures and regulations
  • Monitor and manage the performance of volunteers, in partnership with relevant program staff
  • Ensure all Volunteers adhere to OHS regulations
  • Ensure volunteers are appropriately recognised and rewarded
  • Ensure volunteer personnel files are up to date and contain all required documentation including, but not limited to, police checks and WWC Checks.
  • Maintain the volunteer database and ensure high quality data
  • Contribute to a positive workplace culture
  • Represent the organisation in relevant internal and external platforms
  • Contribute to advertisements and content about volunteering at Doncare
  • Identify and actively participate in continuous improvement activities

Other tasks as required and directed by management

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience and ability to engage volunteers and promote an effective volunteer culture
  • Experience in the recruitment, training and management and retention of volunteers
  • Ability to ensure confidentiality is maintained
  • Possess a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to multi task and meet the demands of a busy position
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proven ability to work harmoniously in a team
  • High integrity and reliability
  • A qualification in Community Services or equivalent is desirable.
