Our work in Forensic Intervention Services (FIS) starts with the belief that every person has the capacity to change and deserves the opportunity to make that change. By building connections with people who have offended (we call them service users) based on trust, professionalism, and empathy, we enable people to address their behaviour and develop insights that lead to better choices and a more constructive role in the community at the end of their order or sentence.

Led by highly respected leaders with a clear vision, we are transforming the way clinical forensic intervention is delivered in Australia and are fast gaining national and international recognition. 

This role forms part of a brand-new team that has been developed to design and implement a service delivery model to address violent extremism. This new team complements our current capabilities in working with people have committed serious sexual and violent offences. 

As a key part of this team, our Senior Clinicians will be responsible for providing quality assessment and treatment for high profile and complex violent extremist offenders. As part of your day to day work, you will:

• Take a lead role in developing and delivering assessment, treatment planning, intervention, case management and transition needs for violent extremist offenders
• Consult with and advise Corrections staff, senior stakeholders and other business units on best practice management and treatment
• Complete assessments for identification of risk, needs and placement requirements
• Prepare comprehensive clinical files, reports and briefings on high level and sensitive cases
• Help develop an integrated multi-disciplinary approach to how violent extremist offenders should be managed based on best practice frameworks.

As well as building your own clinical leadership skills, you will be contributing to the development of world class correctional programming within Corrections Victoria.

Eligibility

To apply, you’ll need to hold (or be eligible for) one of the following:

• General registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia
• Membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
• Be registered as a nurse and be eligible to be credentialed as a Mental Health Nurse
• Be registered as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia
• Specialist training and/or postgraduate qualifications in a clinical or forensic field
• Psychology Board of Australia Approved Supervisor status is desirable.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include national police checks and misconduct screening. You will also need to possess a current Victorian driver’s licence.

A division of Corrections Victoria, Forensic Intervention Services provides clinical services to people who have offended. We employ evidence-based screening, assessment and offence-specific intervention services to support a person’s rehabilitation. In doing so, we form a critical component of the Department's strategy to reduce reoffending and contribute to community safety.
