Be part of our exciting new program to support people in prison with a disability.
The Prisoner Disability Support Initiative (PDSI) is a new service that will better support prisoners with disability and complex needs whilst in prison and with their transition back into the community.
As a Disability Support Officer, you will have a chance to make your mark in establishing this new program across our regional prison facilities.
If you want to challenge yourself in a forensic setting and help set the standard for treatment within corrections, we want to hear from you.
Building on your experience working with people with disability and complex needs, your role will focus on the assessment of prisoners and development of positive behaviour support plans to assist with their rehabilitation, placement and management in the prison. You will:
Experience working with people with disability is required. A qualification in social sciences or in a study area related to disability is desired but not mandatory, as well as an understanding of the forensic working environment.

Eligibility
Successful candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include national police checks and misconduct screening. You will also need to possess a current Victorian driver’s licence.
Corrections Victoria (CV) is responsible for the direction, management, and operation of Victoria's corrections system, which incorporates prisons and Community Correctional Services (CCS). As a service agency within the Department of Justice & Community Safety, CV develops and implements policies, programs and services that ensure the safe and secure containment of prisoners, and that seek to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.
