ABOUT YOUR ORGANISATION

DATA exists to assist Victorian people who have suffered from the terrible effects of renal disease. They may be pre-dialysis, on Dialysis or may have had a kidney transplant.

We provide for our 450 members with subsidised social outings, 2 renovated holiday houses, welfare grants and general support for them and their families.

The volunteer secretary would become a member and get to enjoy the holiday houses and have their travel and other expenses reimbursed.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Secretary role is the glue that keep DATA together. We are all unpaid volunteers and have a passion for looking after people who are in need of assistance. The secretary is responsible for a number of administrative duties such as the management of our monthly meeting agendas, keeping policies updated, answering some general email enquiries, assisting with the publishing of our bi-monthly newsletter, sending out emails to members regarding late membership payments, preparing for our AGM and other administrative duties.

We envisage the role may take about 1 day per week, but time taken is very random and in some weeks it may only be a few hours, in some weeks much more. Our meetings are predominantly via zoom at 7pm on a Tuesday night once a month, but we have a face to face meeting at our Forest Hills office on Sunday afternoons, around 3-4 times a year as well. We are flexible and fit in with everyone's personal lives.

ABOUT YOU

We just want someone who is keen to be a volunteer in a small NFP that makes a difference to peoples lives.

You don't need to be an administrative guru, just basic word, email and excel skills are sufficient. The job is done at your pace, there is no pressure from anyone. We are all volunteers who are part of a team giving their time for nothing.

We do have one paid employee, our office manager and book keeper who can assist with most tasks as well. he works 3 days a week in the Forest Hills office.
