Community Resource Facilitator

Community Resource Unit Ltd.

purpose of position

The Facilitator will work with the CRU team to deliver CRU’s Community Innovation Program From Presence to Contribution: Building Community Connectedness.

This project will deliver parallel education, coaching and mentoring for a group of 15 young people with disability (up to age 25) and for two cohorts of disability support workers. The focus of the project is to assist young people at risk of social isolation to expand their social networks, take up valued roles in community, and become known and valued in their communities. Alongside this work with young people, there is a complementary strategy of building the skills and knowledge of paid support workers so they can more effectively assist the people they support to build their networks and find ways to contribute in their community.

This role will work primarily with the young people with disability by planning and co-facilitating interactive workshops, conducting one on one mentoring sessions, resourcing the young person’s support network, and hosting a peer support network for participants.

The role may also contribute to training for the support worker cohort and will work collaboratively with other members of the CRU team to deliver the project and also to further CRU’s goals to promote positive change toward full and meaningful lives for people with a disability.
