Community Refugee Sponsorship Australia is looking for a strategic, creative and hands-on communications leader to help build a national movement of kindness, connection and practical welcome. Since our establishment in 2021, our work has supported the successful resettlement of more than a thousand refugee newcomers into communities across Australia, with the help of thousands of individual Australians, volunteering their time as members of informal local supporter groups.
This is a critical role in a small, innovative organisation with big ambitions: to continue to grow a large, robust and multifaceted community sponsorship movement across Australia. You will lead our public engagement, communications and media work, helping more Australians understand, support and participate in community-led welcome for refugees and newcomers.
Reporting to the CEO, you will shape and deliver strategies that strengthen CRSA’s public visibility, deepen engagement with communities and partners through events and campaigns, support thoughtful storytelling, and build the systems, tools and relationships needed for long-term movement growth.
We are looking for someone who can combine strategic judgement with practical delivery; who can write for a variety of audiences, understands media and public engagement, understands our target audiences and how to reach them, and enjoys working in a small, collaborative team where ideas move quickly into reality.
This role would suit an experienced communications, media or public engagement professional who wants to use their skills to help grow something hopeful, ambitious and deeply human.
People with lived experience as refugees are encouraged to apply, noting that this role is not focussed personal storytelling or the sharing of lived experience.
Embodies CRSA’s values—kindness, courage, innovation, autonomy & trust. See our website for further information on how these values are embedded in our approach.
Candidates must have full and unrestricted rights to work in Australia and be able to provide a clear national criminal history check and valid Working With Children Check prior to commencing employment.
A position description is attached.
