Wordpress Developer - Mid-to-Senior - Flexible Location

Creative Freedom

Full-time or part-time position available with flexibility in location across Australia for the right candidate.

We’re looking for a passionate Wordpress developer to join our growing team of creatives working on digital projects for social impact. With commitment to quality code, strong teamwork ethic, expert technical capabilities in both classic and modern web traditions, and a curiosity-driven approach to learning and collaborating, you’ll work as a leading contributor alongside our in-house dev team. The successful candidate will have strong initiative, comprehensive technical skills, quality communication skills, a passion for our clients’ work and a commitment to deliver industry-leading digital solutions that are marked by efficiency and quality.

The position is available on a part-time or full-time basis with a FTE salary range of $85,436–$98,903 (+ super). We are currently taking Australia-wide expressions of interest, with flexibility in location across Australia for the right candidate.

What we’re looking for in candidates

Insightful Solution Design: The idea of sticky taping a Wordpress site together with countless plugins makes you queasy. Instead, you are focused on stable, secure and speedy Wordpress sites built on the latest platform features and with just a handful of premium plugins (e.g. Gravity Forms, ACF).

Quality Theme Development: You love nothing more than a clean, efficient, well-coded custom Wordpress theme built on the Wordpress Block Editor (no page builders please), and are excited about the upcoming move to Full-site Editing. You harness compilation CSS frameworks (e.g. Bootstrap, Tailwind) and know the ins-and-outs of Wordpress actions and hooks.

Sensible Plugin Development: If you need additional functionality in Wordpress, you don’t just reach for someone else’s code but can work to build it custom. Whether it’s an integration with another platform, theme-independent custom post-types, or a minor platform utility you can write sophisticated, object-oriented plugins to solve the task.

Client Partnership: You’ll be working with our inspiring clients to craft exceptional digital solutions on Wordpress that are simple, yet sophisticated and a delight to manage ongoing. You are passionate about their work and committed to seeing them succeed online, working with them to train them up to have platform confidence.

A Collaborative Spirit: While you know how to work well independently, you thrive in a team context where you can share with, and learn from, your colleagues and ensure that together we’re delivering our best work for our clients and fostering a positive work environment for our team.

Reliable Deployment: Launching a site online doesn’t freak you out; in fact you relish the moment. With confidence in DNS management, a commitment to Core Web Vitals, experience with CI/CD setups and a crucial dependence on github, you only launch websites that are quality, stress-tested and delightful to use.
